Electrical studies are absolutely essential to design the grid connection system, ensure the compliance with the grid code and evaluate the stable operation of the wind farm.

The studies extend strongly depend on the particularities of the given grid access and the desired application. The required input for the basic Engineering is normally a Feasibility Study or Conceptual Design of the grid connection.

The substation is a fundamental piece in the connection of the asset to the grid. It is a complex item and plays a big influence on the fulfilment (or not) of the grid code. It often constitutes a separate item with its own construction contract.

For the connection of the wind / solar asset to the grid a medium voltage, communication and earthing grids must be created. The layout and the dimensioning of such grids have a strong influence on the project’s investment and operation costs.
